6/14-16/05 I went up to the property for 3 days: Tuesday through Thursday.
On the way up, I stopped at the Dept. of L & I in Bellevue and bought a wiring permit for $157.50. It is good for one year.
I arrived at the property at 1:50 and there was no frog in the gate. After moving in and having lunch, I placed three 2x4s from the top of the scaffold over to the top of the northwest wall. The 2x4s rested on top of the caplog between a pair of rafters near the west corner. I used these 2x4s to reach the top of the gable wall between Grid A3 and B3.
The first thing was to clean out the ceiling slot so I could get a 1x2 in there. I had to rasp a few places down with Rasputin, and I had to cut away some dried caulking, but I eventually got the 1x2 and a short piece of 1x8 installed. In the process I could see small cracks of daylight through the slot. I'll have to remember to goop up the ends of the ceiling boards good with caulk when I install the ceiling in order to seal up these cracks.
Next I insulated six seams and nailed two seams.
On Wednesday morning, I called L&I to schedule an inspection and found out that I had to talk to Chad Heiserman who is the inspector who works in this area. I was told to call him at 7:30 AM on his number at 886-6554.
I nailed four more seams and chinked one seam before lunch. After lunch I chinked the remaining five seams. I also fed the jays and the chipmunks periodically throughout the day.
On Thursday morning, I started calling Chad at 7:30 and got his answering machine until 8:00 when he finally answered. He told me that it wouldn't be much of a problem extending my permit if I didn't get the wiring done in a year. It would just cost me extra money. He told me to request an inspection on their automated system and then to call him at 8:00 next Tuesday morning. He is in my area on Tuesdays and Thursdays only so Tuesdays are the best days for our combined schedules.
I spent the rest of the morning cleaning the logs where I had chinked with a damp towel. I am really happy with the way they look.
I removed the pilot light assembly from the water heater so I can take it in and buy the right replacement parts at the RV store. I left for home at 1:30.
