1/24-26/06 I went up to the property for 3 days: Tuesday through Thursday.
I arrived at 1:00. It was a balmy 36 degrees. Lots of the snow had melted in the previous day and a half. The timing for the scout visit was perfect for the snow quality.
After moving in and having lunch, I dragged three logs back up the hill. The boys had used those logs to sit on around their campfire. Next, I sanded the five feet of the logs in the Grid E loft wall that are due for their last coat of varnish. Then I set up a tarp enclosing the Grid E loft wall and got a start on planing the top log.
On Wednesday, I was super tired. I went to work and planed, scraped, and gouged the top 2 Grid E logs to the corner of the room. The work seems to be extra hard on my hands, wrists, and forearms. I guess it is because the rest I had given them hadn't allowed them to completely heal but it did allow them to atrophy. It's tough getting old.
I swept up the chips and vacuumed the floor and wall where I had been working. It's nice to have a clean cabin. I'll try to keep it that way from now on.
On Thursday morning I was stiff and sore. I varnished the prepared logs and left for home at 12:40. At least I got some work done this week.
