3/21-23/06 I went up to the property for 3 days: Tuesday through Thursday.
I arrived at 1:20. There was no new snow and I could see that the snow had shrunk back quite a bit. I decided to try to get the pickup parked closer to the trailer. I shoveled away some of the deeper snow and then got a good run at it to see how far I could get. I got hung up, did some more shoveling, some more barging in with the pickup and finally got it up to where Mike had plowed it out earlier for the bus. I got it parked by 2:00.
After moving in and having lunch, I sanded and vacuumed the bottom eight logs at Grid D1-E1. Then I moved the scaffold and set up tarps and lights so I could work on the window. Before I quit for the day, I got a couple big hammers and a short piece of rebar and drove in the nails in the window frames so the heads would be below where the planer would reach.
In the middle of the night I heard coyotes howling and yipping again, although they did not keep it up as long this time.
Wednesday was a beautiful sunny day. I spent the day working on the first loft window frame with the planer, scraper, and gouge to get it ready to varnish. In the process Earl came over for a visit. We had a real nice chat and while we were out on the porch two gray jays came by for peanuts. When Earl left, I finished up preparation on the window and then swept and vacuumed the floor, wall, and window.
Thursday was another beautiful sunny day. I varnished the window frame and the eight wall logs. Then I went down and dug out the firewood left over from the scout camp. I loaded it all in the pickup which was now parked right next to the stack. I'll take it home with me and give it to my son-in-law Paul. I had lunch and left for home at 12:15.
