Construction Journal Entry Week of 3/22/15

3/24-26/15 I went up to Camp Serendipity for 3 days: Tuesday through Thursday.

On the way I stopped in and fixed Priscilla's wheelchair. Then I proceeded on to pick up our income tax return and from there I went to Monroe where I beat Uncle Charles in a game of checkers.

There was a little snow in the pass above 3000 feet but there was none on the road. I arrived at Camp Serendipity at 1:25 and was soon joined by Ernie who got several biscuits while I packed my gear up to the cabin and split some firewood.

I started a fire in the wood stove and then had my lunch. By then the temperature outside was above 50º and it was bright and sunny. Instead of taking a nap, I took the opportunity to varnish boards. Unfortunately I was running out of varnish and used up all that I had. I got a half dozen or so boards varnished before it started getting cold.

On Wednesday it was 30º and rainy. I spent the morning nailing up ceiling boards. After lunch and a nap, I finished nailing up all the boards that were varnished. I split up a bunch more firewood and started a fire in the stove.

On Thursday morning, I installed the new light under the Grid B,2.5 purlin. Then I lengthened the wire and chain on the dining room light fixture so that it will hang lower by 2 feet. I won't hang it back up again until all the ceiling boards are installed.

I left for home at 12:30 feeling relaxed and rejuvenated.
