Construction Journal Entry Week of 11/17/24

11/19-22/24 I went up to Camp Serendipity for four days: Tuesday through Friday.

I had a doctor's appointment on Monday afternoon, so I skipped a day. I arrived at 11:45 on Tuesday and there was 3 inches of new snow on the ground. I drove over it and parked at the hairpin turn as usual. I began wearing my Sorrel boots for the first time this season. I brought my gear up in one trip, making a trail in the snow. Then I hoisted the flag, had my lunch and a nap, and built a fire in the stove.

Then I walked to the grave and went in and talked to John. He is handling the snow just fine. It started snowing on my return trip.

On Wednesday morning when I got up there was 4 inches of new snow on the ground. I practiced the piano and then walked to the grave. On the way I met Dave and Nancy who were going to visit John. I went with them and John gave us a tour of his A-frame. It is all insulated and enclosed and he had a cozy fire in his wood stove that warmed the place up. In fact, it was overheated.

When I got back, I had my lunch and a nap. Then I practiced the piano and when I finished, Bill called. We caught up on our views of the recent election.

On Thursday morning it was 25 degrees outside when I got up and there was no new snow. I watered the plants, then practiced the piano, and then did some serious work on the bedroom light fixture. I listened to the radio for a while and then walked to the grave. I stopped in again momentarily to talk to John. When I got home, I had my lunch and a nap. When I got up, I continued working on the light fixture and I practiced the piano some more.

On Friday morning when I got up the temperature outside was 27 degrees and it was raining lightly with snow mixed in. That turned to just snow, but it stopped at about 8:00. I practiced the piano, and then walked to the grave. On the way I talked to Barb and Byron who were heading to a doctor's appointment. When I got back Paula called and asked for my advice on helping her boss deal with a wind-fallen tree. I left for home at 12:50 and had an uneventful drive home. It was another fun week.
