5/26-30/25 I went up to Camp Serendipity for 5 days: Monday through Friday.
I arrived at 12:40 and brought my gear up in one trip. After hoisting the flag, I had my lunch and did some unpacking. Then I walked to the grave.
When I got back, I made up the bed. I had taken all the bedding home to be laundered and now I had to put it back together. It was complicated by the presence of my mosquito net tent I had set up over the bed. I ended up collapsing the tent and setting it back up after the bed was made. Once that was done, the bed and I were both ready for my nap.
When I got up, it was time for my shower and the end-of-day rituals including dinner.
On Tuesday morning, I practiced the piano for an hour, listened to the radio for a while, and then walked to the grave. After lunch and a nap, I went to work on the stone wall and laid up stones using mortar batch number 114. Then I had my shower.
On Wednesday morning, I repeated Tuesday's itinerary except that I talked with Barb at the end of my walk. I used batch number 115 to lay up the stones.
On Thursday morning, I watered Tiger, the snake plant. Then I practiced the piano and after that, I walked to the grave. I had gotten an early start so I had an early lunch and nap and had a little extra time. I spent about half an hour making up 25 or so wall tie assemblies. Then I found and washed a few nice (I mean gneiss) stones. Then I mixed up batch number 116 and laid the stones up in the wall.
Early on Friday morning (4:30 or so) I was lying in bed and thinking that in a full 5-day week, I only get to mix up 3 batches of mortar. I typically don't do stonework on either travel day. That seemed unacceptable to me.
I decided to change my routine for Fridays. First, I hopped out of bed early to get an early start. Then I decided to skip walking to the grave on Friday. Ellen and I typically go on a long (2 or 3 miles) walk to dinner when I get home so that makes up for skipping my walk to the grave. I would still practice the piano for an hour, but I would begin working on the wall in the morning and get in a fourth batch for the week. So that is what I did.
I finished laying up batch number 117 in time to vacuum the cabin floor and still have time to pack up and have my lunch. I was happy with my change of plans. Now if I could only figure out how to do more than one batch per day, I might be able to speed up the wall-building.
I left for home at 12:45 happy with the week's progress.
