7/7-11/25 I went up to Camp Serendipity for 5 days: Monday through Friday.
I arrived at 1:00 and carried my gear up in two trips using the Trapper Nelson for the second one. It was hot. I hoisted the flag between the trips and afterward had a late lunch. After putting most of the gear away, I had a nap and played the piano. It was too late and too hot for a walk.
I caught a strange insect that looked like a normal insect except that it had a long neck, like a goose. I learned later that it is a snake fly.
On Tuesday, I was up at 5 and out to work at 8. I started by wheeling one sack of mortar mix from the truck up to the back stoop. Then I harvested, cleaned, and laid up a batch of stones using mortar batch #138.
Then after lunch and a nap, I practiced the piano and then walked to the grave. The temperature outside was 90 degrees. I appreciated a cool shower when I got back.
On Wednesday morning, I was up at 5 and out to work by 7:30. I started by installing a bunch of wall ties in the wall. Then I harvested and washed two big stones and laid them into the wall using mortar batch #139.
After lunch and a nap, I walked to the grave. There were only a few mosquitoes. When I got back, I filled and staged 7 water jugs.
On Thursday, I watered Tiger and then went out to work at 7:30. I harvested a bunch of stones from the pile in front of the front porch. Then I laid up the stones using mortar batch #140. I had some time left before lunch time, so I practiced the piano. Then I had lunch and a nap.
When I got up, I loaded the jugs into the truck and then walked to the grave. When I got back, I took a picture of the wall after 140 batches of mortar. Then I took a welcome shower.
On Friday, I was up at 5 and out to work at 8. I started out by spraying rodent repellant in the space behind the wall. There had been evidence of packrats in there and I wanted to keep them out if I could. Then I laid up a bunch of stones that were already prepared and I used up two batches doing so. Those were batches #141 and #142.
After cleaning up and putting things away, I had my lunch and left for home at 12:15. I was extremely happy to have done another five batches of stone laying this week.
