3/1-3/05 I went up to the property for 3 days: Tuesday through Thursday.
I arrived at 1:35. There was no new snow so I was able to drive right up to the trailer. Just as I was finishing lunch, Larry and Ted Turner stopped by for a visit. We went up to the cabin and they had a look at what I had done. I also took some pictures of them and they gave me permission to post them on my web site. When they left, I sanded the logs in the bedroom that were due for another coat and I planed all the bathroom logs.
On Wednesday I spent the day scraping, gouging, and rasping the top 5 logs and the window frame in the bathroom. I swept up the chips and vacuumed the floor and the walls to be ready for varnishing.
On Thursday morning, I scraped the glue beads from the molding joints on the kitchen window. Then I cut and installed the molding on the westernmost big living room window. I learned how to apply a smaller bead of glue and get it positioned so that hardly any oozed out. It should be easier to clean up the glue as I get better at it. I have a lot of liquid nails subfloor glue left over, and it seems to work well for the molding, so that is what I will use for all the windows.
I varnished the last coat in the bedroom and the first coat on the top 5 logs and the window in the bathroom. I left for home at 12:45.
3/5/05 Bought a refrigerator for $200 at an estate sale. It’s a little early to be buying a refrigerator for the cabin but the price was right and the refrigerator is nearly new.
