Construction Journal Entry Week of 3/24/24

3/25-29/24 I went up to Camp Serendipity for five days: Monday through Friday.

The drive over the pass was pleasant; there was hardly any traffic, and the scenery was gorgeous. I arrived at 12:15. The temperature was 50 degrees. I brought my gear up in two trips, hoisted the flag, had my lunch and a nap, and then I walked to the grave.

On Tuesday I practiced the piano, listened to the radio, and walked to the grave.

After lunch and a nap, I hooked up the irrigation hoses and got them running. One hose had been broken during the winter, so I mended that which took a little effort. I started the drip irrigation to Paul and then I dug Runty out from under a couple inches of snow that had it pinned down. I went further in and saw that Dan was already out but there was too much snow for me to walk in further.

On Wednesday morning the temperature was 27 degrees when I got up and it was snowing. It snowed all morning but didn't accumulate more than two inches on the ground which disappeared during the afternoon. I practiced the piano, listened to the radio, and walked to the grave again.

I had my lunch and a nap and then went outside and moved a bunch of boards out of the way of the wall so I could lay down scaffold planks. I laid down two more planks before I went in. I practiced the piano for a while and then I called John. We had a very nice conversation before I fixed my dinner.

On Thursday morning the temperature was 25 degrees, and the weather was clear. It didn't look like we would get any more snow. I practiced the piano and then walked to the grave. I met the woman who lives in Bartholomew's log building, and I think she said her name was Larry Ann. Her dog's name is Bodi.

After lunch and a nap, I filled eight water jugs and staged them in the utility room. Then I rearranged some of the boards under the front porch with the objective of providing access to the foundation wall. There is a whole bunch of sheet stock like plywood and OSB leaning against the foundation wall there and I intend to move it over and lean it the other way so I can place stones on the foundation. I was happy with the progress I made.

On Friday morning I practiced the piano and then walked to the grave. When I got back, I took a short nap and then loaded the water jugs into the truck. I had my lunch and left for home at 1:00. I was happy with how I felt all week and happy with the work I got done.
