6/24-28/24 I went up to Camp Serendipity for five days: Monday through Friday.
I arrived shortly after noon and brought my gear up in two trips using the wheelbarrow for the second one. After lunch and a nap, I walked to the grave and on the way, I talked to Dave Bartholomew who was on a bike.
On Tuesday morning there was a power outage at 6:25 before I had started my breakfast. I walked to the school bus turn around where I was able to call the power company and get an estimate on power restoration. They said it would be restored at 9:30.
On my walk back to the cabin I noticed a small stone that would be perfect for the wall, and I brought it back with me. Then I used the wheelbarrow to bring one sack of mortar mix up to the cabin from the truck. The power was still out so I walked to the grave without having much breakfast. On the way, I met Nancy walking her two dogs and we talked for a while.
When I got back, the power was still out so I had a breakfast of a prune, a banana, and a can of sardines. Then I went outside to work on the stone wall. The mosquitoes were pretty thick so I wore a mosquito net hat which seemed to work OK except I couldn't see very well. I harvested stones, cleaned them, and then mixed a batch of mortar and laid the stones up in the wall. When I quit at 12:30, I found that the power was back on. I think it had been on for 1/2 hour or so.
Then I had my lunch, took a nap, and spent the rest of the afternoon practicing the piano.
On Wednesday I started by practicing the piano, and then walked to the grave. There was a fairly violent thunderstorm threatening the whole time, but it didn't rain much, and I didn't get struck by lightning. When I got back, I vacuumed the bedroom and then had my lunch and a nap.
I went outside without the bug hat and harvested stones. I think the breeze kept the mosquitoes down. Then I mixed a batch of mortar and laid the stones in the wall.
When I went into the cabin, I vacuumed the living room floor.
On Thursday morning I practiced the piano and then Robert called. We had a good conversation.
I walked to the grave and on the way, I met a man in a truck named Clark Jennings. He said he lived 4 miles up the road and has been watching my building progress for years.
Back at the cabin I vacuumed some more on the first floor and then had my lunch. Just as I finished my lunch, the doorbell rang, and it was Nancy with two friends: Mark and Peggy Reeves. They came in and we had a nice visit and tour of the cabin.
When they left, I skipped my nap and went outside and worked on the wall. I laid up one more batch worth of stones in the wall.
On Friday morning I practiced the piano, listened to the radio, and walked to the grave. When I got back, I had my lunch and then left for home at 12:45. It was another good and productive week that I thoroughly enjoyed.
