Construction Journal Entry Week of 12/1/24

12/2-6/24 I went up to Camp Serendipity for five days: Monday through Friday.

It was 23 degrees outside when I arrived at 11:30. The old crusty snow was still there. I brought my gear up in 2 trips using the Trapper Nelson for one of them. After lunch and a nap, I walked for an hour. Then I watered the plants since they had gone a week without water.

On Tuesday morning it was 20 degrees outside. I practiced the piano, listened to the radio, and walked to the grave. Just before I got back to the cabin, Barb and Byron stopped by on the road and told me they were heading for a doctor's appointment.

After lunch and a nap, I worked on the bedroom light fixture and ran into one setback after another. After several attempts my strategy for rebuilding the socket assembly proved to be impossible using the nuts and bolts method.

On Wednesday morning it was 20 degrees outside. I practiced the piano, listened to the radio and then walked to the grave. After lunch and a nap, I went back to the bedroom light fixture project and figured out a new strategy using thin wires instead of nuts and bolts. That proved to work. And I was happy to put the fixture back together and get it hung up in the bedroom from the ceiling. I was very happy.

On Thursday morning the temperature outside was still 20 degrees. I practiced the piano and just as I finished, Robert called and brought me up to date. It was mostly good news from him which I was happy to hear. Then I listened to the radio until lunchtime. After lunch I took a nap and then walked to the grave. When I got back, I filled and staged 16 water jugs in the entry room. Then I did some reading.

On Friday morning the temperature outside was 20 degrees again. I practiced the piano, and then loaded the 16 jugs into the truck using the wheelbarrow to bring them down there in one load. Then I had my lunch, packed up and left for home at 12:30. I was very happy to have that bedroom light fixture problem behind me.
