12/26-28/24 I went up to Camp Serendipity for 3 days: Thursday through Saturday.
There was snow in the pass and chains, or AWD were required. The road over the pass and to Camp Serendipity was nicely plowed. My driveway had not been plowed and there was about 8 inches of fresh wet snow on the ground. I was able in 4WD to drive in anyway and turn around and park at the foot of the stairs heading out. I arrived at 1:30 and it took me until 2:30 to shovel off the staircase and stomp out the trails to the front porch of the cabin. Then I brought my gear up, hoisted the flag and had my lunch at 3:00. After lunch, I had a short nap and then watered the two plants. Then finally, I had my dinner.
On Friday morning when I got up, the temperature was 25 degrees, and it was snowing heavily. It stopped snowing after about an hour, and I went for a walk to the grave after practicing the piano. Just as I got down to the foot of the stairs, I was greeted by Connie and Clint Smith who were walking back to their house to meet with the telephone service person. I walked that far with them, and we had a nice visit. Then I proceeded on and finished my walk to the grave. On the way, I stopped in at John's and gave him a Happy New Year greeting.
Back at the cabin, I found that Josh had plowed the driveway between the truck and the road. Then I had my lunch and a nap. When I got up, I went out and pruned the bushes that had accumulated a lot of snow and had bent over the handrail rope alongside the trail and made it unusable. After the bushes had been trimmed and removed, I tightened up the entire rope handrail from top to bottom. That made it usable. Back in the cabin, I filled and staged the water jugs and practiced the piano.
On Saturday morning when I got up, the temperature outside was 25 degrees again and it snowed intermittently. I practiced the piano and then loaded the jugs into the back of the truck. Then I packed up to go home and left for home at 10:30. It was a mix of snow and rain when I finally drove off to go home. It was a short but fun week.
