3/2-6/26 I went up to Camp Serendipity for 5 days: Monday through Friday.
I arrived at 11:45 on a balmy spring day. Most of the snow was gone and I brought my gear up the staircase in one trip. Then I came back down to hoist the flag. After lunch and a short nap, I walked to the grave. On the way I stopped and talked to Nate who was working on getting a log splitter going after it had been submerged in John's flood. John happened to be gone on business while I was talking to Nate.
On Tuesday morning I was up real early, at 3:30 AM, to look at the lunar eclipse. I think I missed the totality, but I did see the Blood Moon. Then I went back to bed.
When I got up, I practiced the piano and then worked on the puzzle for a while before going outside to work on firewood. Then, after lunch and a nap, I walked to the grave and talked with Barb and Byron for a short while. Then back at the cabin, I read the news headlines that I had downloaded.
On Wednesday morning, the temperature outside was 30 degrees and it was raining. I practiced the piano and worked on the puzzle for a while. Then, before I went out to work on firewood, I noticed that the bathroom heater did not seem to be working. The bathroom seemed to be warm enough so maybe it was working after all.
After lunch and a nap, I walked to the grave and downloaded the news headlines.
On Thursday, the temperature outside when I got up was 33 degrees. After practicing the piano, I took the chainsaw outside and cut up a lot of an old down maple tree and brush that was overgrown. Since there were no leaves out yet, and I don't think the ticks were out yet, it was a perfect time to do the brush cutting. It was overgrown and growing in clumps that I could easily mow down with the saw since it was easy to see the stalks without the leaves. I worked until it was past lunchtime and I still had more battery left. I was worn out before the saw was ready to quit.
After lunch and a nap, I walked to the grave and downloaded the news headlines.
On Friday morning, the temperature outside was 33 degrees. After practicing the piano, I got a call from Robert, and we had a nice chat. He is doing well and getting in shape for another season of cutting trees. I said "Hi" to John and Abby as I saw them walking down the road before I left. I left for home at 12:30 after having lunch and packing up. This was another fun week at the cabin.
