Construction Journal Entry Week of 11/7/21

11/8-12/21 I went up to Camp Serendipity for five days: Monday through Friday

It was 30 degrees and clear when I arrived at 11:40. I needed two trips to bring my gear up to the cabin and for the second one I used the wheelbarrow. I hoisted the flag, built a fire in the stove, and then had my lunch and a nap. I spent the rest of the afternoon splitting firewood.

On Tuesday morning I woke up to see a skiff of snow on the ground. The temperature was 28 degrees, and it was snowing lightly. I practiced the piano, listened to the radio, and did some scraping work on the seam in the bathroom. That is very tiring tedious work, and I could only do it for a little while. The problem is it's almost out of reach behind the cabinet.

After lunch and a nap, I practiced the piano again a little, and then called Earl. Then I went out and split some more firewood. It rained pretty much all day.

On Wednesday the weather was sunny and dry and still. It was beautiful outside. After practicing the piano, I went outside and burned the brush pile that I had prepared, and I cut a bunch more brush and piled it on the fire. The fire burned with almost no smoke, and it burned up all the brush that I brought to it. Earl called me while I was working outside and wanted to know if he could still watch the livestream interview I did with Steve White of LHBA.

On Thursday there was another one inch of snow on the ground in the morning. Dave called first thing and we had a nice long conversation. I practiced the piano, listened to the radio, and did some more scraping on the seam. It was raining outside so it was not a good day to work outside. After lunch and a nap, I did some more scraping and spent the rest of the day writing.

On Friday it was another cold rainy day. After practicing the piano, I listened to the radio and wrote a little. I also did a little more scraping on the seam. I'm getting close to where I'm going to decide it's good enough to paint. I left for home at 12:30 happy with the little progress I made this week.
