Construction Journal Entry Week of 2/12/23

2/13-17/23 I went up to Camp Serendipity for five days: Monday through Friday.

I got started late because I had another doctor's appointment. There was snow on the road going over the pass but the roads were good. I arrived at 2:45 and brought enough gear along that took five trips up and down to bring it to the cabin. That included a new microwave oven for the cabin.

I hoisted the flag, set up the new microwave, and it was time for dinner. I talked to Ellen several times discussing details of scheduling my upcoming heart ablation.

On Tuesday I scheduled the ablation first thing. It will be March 21st.

I practiced the piano, listened to the radio, and did some reading before my lunch and a nap. When I got up, I went for a walk to the White River Bridge and on the way met Adam Tobey, the new youth director at Tall Timber Ranch. When I returned, I did some more reading.

On Wednesday I got up in the middle of the night and noticed an unusual starry night. I took a picture of Orion from the front window.

The temperature outside when I got up was 14 degrees. I practiced the piano, listened to the radio, and did some reading before lunch and a nap.

I decided to go outside for a walk and just as I started, a pickup stopped in the driveway and Dave Garman and Kristen got out. We had a nice chat before they left, and I continued my walk. I had not walked 100 feet when my telephone rang, and it was Bill. I was surprised I got cell service there. Bill and I had a great conversation while I went to the end of my walk. I lost service at the end, and we had to stop talking.

On Thursday morning the temperature outside was 18 degrees. I practiced the piano, listened to the radio, had my lunch and a nap, and then went for a walk in the woods. I looked for screen in the privy for use in a project at home, but I didn't find any. It was a beautiful sunny afternoon with absolutely no wind or sound and the snow was so hard you could walk on top of it everywhere. For long periods of time I would just stop and stand still enjoying the view and the beautiful day. When I got back to the cabin, I vacuumed the first floor.

On Friday morning it was 26 degrees outside. I practiced the piano, listened to the radio, had my lunch, and left for home at 12:15. It had been a delightful week.
