5/19-21/25 I went up to Camp Serendipity for 3 days: Monday through Wednesday.
This was intended to be a normal week, but it was cut short. I arrived at 12:10 after a rainy drive over the mountains. Fortunately, the rain stopped when I arrived. I brought my gear up in one trip and hoisted the flag. After having my lunch, I walked to the grave. I met John and Abby walking the other way and we talked briefly. Then, on my return, I met them again going the other way and they were with Dave and Nancy and their two dogs. We had another chat.
When I got to the truck, I picked up the water jugs and brought them up to the cabin. Then I unpacked the rest of my gear and took a nap. When I got up, it was time for my shower.
On Tuesday morning, the temperature outside was 34 degrees. After practicing the piano, I went outside and wheeled up two 60 lb. sacks of mortar in two wheelbarrow trips. Then I walked to the grave.
After lunch and a nap, I went to work on the stone wall and laid up a batch worth of stones. That was batch number 113.
On Wednesday morning when I got up, I discovered a lesion on my hip that looked like a tick had dug in. Hoping it wasn't too deep, I got a tweezer and did my best to pull it out. I did pull out a small, bloody piece and saved it in a piece of paper. The piece looked like it might have had a couple legs attached but the whole thing was only about an eighth of an inch altogether. I also got what looked like a small leg.
I called Ellen right away and since I didn't know how much, if any, of a tick was still in there, we decided I should cut my trip short and go home. So, I packed up my gear, watered Tiger, filled and loaded the water jugs, and left for home at 9:30 AM. This was a disappointingly short week.
