12/26-27/13 Ellen, Andrew, Tianna, and I went up to Camp Serendipity for two days: Thursday and Friday.
We had planned on having fun in the snow, which has sort of become an annual tradition, but this year the conditions on the ground changed our expectations. There was no snow. We went anyway.
To start with, we stopped in Monroe and visited with Uncle Charles. Then we proceeded on to Cole's Corner where we had lunch at the 59'er Diner. From there we went to Camp Serendipity where we hoisted the flag, turned up the thermostats, and unloaded most of our gear. There were no air bubbles in the water system, so the trick of leaving the valve partly closed worked. Tianna filled Dave's bird feeder and we did a few other sundry things before we left again and headed for Leavenworth.
We stopped at the Alps Candy store on the way. Then we stopped at the Arcade in Leavenworth where Andrew and Tianna amused themselves with various games and challenges. Then, rushing to beat the 6:00 PM closing time, we went to the Studio 1890 and posed for a bunch of old-time pictures.
After that, we had a big German dinner at King Ludwig's and then drove back to Camp Serendipity. We spent a fun evening in the cabin. Paul went to bed with earplugs earlier than the rest and then got up earlier than the rest of them the next morning.
After everyone had had their breakfast, Ellen and Paul went walking through the giant sequoia grove and up to the spring. After cleaning the place up, we packed up and headed for home. On the way we had lunch at the Old School BBQ in Monroe and we visited the Reptile Zoo. It was a fun outing in spite of not being able to play in the snow.
