3/1-5/21 I went up to Camp Serendipity for 5 days: Monday through Friday.
The pass was closed again and due to open at 1:00. I had lunch at home and then left to bring our tax material to the accountant and then proceeded over the pass. I arrived at Scenic at 1:20 and there was no sign of any closure. The entire roadway was bare and dry and there was virtually no traffic. I arrived at 2:00 o'clock.
The weather was sunny and beautiful and there was no new snow on the ground. I brought my gear up in 2 trips, hoisted the flag, and since the temperature was 70 degrees inside the cabin, I didn't build a fire. I had a short nap and spent the rest of the afternoon working on a new piano piece.
On Tuesday I practiced the piano and then sanded all the casing legs. My heavy-duty Craftsman sander seized up and quit working, so I switched and used a Black and Decker mouse. That worked fine. Robert called and caught me up on his activities. Then I had a late lunch and a nap.
On Wednesday, the temperature outside was 20 degrees. I practiced the piano, and then Earl called. After we hung up, I varnished the first coat on all the casing legs. I took a picture of the legs drying. After lunch and a nap, I spent the afternoon writing.
On Thursday I practiced the piano and then sanded the 22 casing legs by hand. They needed only a light sanding and it was easier to do it by hand. After lunch and a nap, I used up all my remaining varnish and varnished 17 legs. The weather was sunny and beautiful. I spent the rest of the day reading.
On Friday, I practiced the piano and then vacuumed the first floor. Then I had my lunch and left for home at 12:25 after another fun week.
