1/20-24/25 I went up to Camp Serendipity for five days: Monday through Friday.
I watched the inauguration before I left so I got a late start. I arrived at 12:50. It was a cold 18 degrees but clear. There were no changes in the snow from the previous week, so I parked in the usual way. I brought my gear up in 2 trips and hoisted the flag. Then I had my lunch and started a fire in the wood stove. Then I walked to the grave and passed Ken who was walking in the other direction. I wore my new down Helly Hansen parka for the first time and it worked great in the 18 degrees. On the way back to the cabin I brought the tool bag, and the water jugs up from the truck. Then I practiced the piano.
On Tuesday morning the temperature outside was 7 degrees when I got up. I built a fire in the wood stove first thing. Then I practiced the piano, listened to the radio, and then walked to the grave. After lunch and a nap, I worked on a rack for water jugs to go into the truck. I discovered that I needed to choose newer and better boards, which I found.
On Wednesday morning it was 11 degrees outside when I got up. Somewhat warmer but still pretty chilly. I practiced the piano, listened to the radio, and then walked to the grave. I listened to the radio some more before having my lunch and a nap. There was a lot of news this week. In the afternoon I finished making and installing the jug rack for the truck. Then I worked some more on preparing for the puzzle which mainly consisted of clearing stuff from the tabletop.
On Thursday morning when I got up, the temperature outside was 10 degrees and I started a fire in the stove. Dave called and we had a delightful conversation in spite of an annoying hum in the phone. When we hung up, I called the phone company and initiated a service call to fix the hum. Then I walked to the grave and had my lunch and a nap. I filled the water jugs and staged them in the entry room and then practiced the piano. A little after 4:00 the phone company called and told me the phone had been fixed, and it was.
On Friday morning the temperature was up to 20 degrees. I practiced the piano, walked to the grave, and then spent an hour loading the water jugs into the truck. Then I had my lunch and packed up to go home. I left at 1:30, which was a little late. In spite of being cold it was a productive fun week.
