Construction Journal Entry Week of 2/15/26

2/16-19/26 I went up to Camp Serendipity for 4 days: Monday through Thursday.

I arrived at 11:30. The temperature was 28 degrees, the weather was sunny and there had been no new snow to speak of. I brought my gear up to the cabin in two trips, hoisting the flag in between. After lunch and a nap, and unpacking my gear, I went for a walk. I turned around after going half-way. I noticed that the Smith's had removed the huge log from the ditch that was left from the big fallen tree. Now there is just the big stump and root ball at their driveway entrance.

On Tuesday morning, the temperature outside was 16 degrees and the skies were clear. After practicing the piano, I went out in the cold and dragged firewood up the hill and stacked it.

After lunch and a nap, I walked to the grave without seeing anyone that I knew.

On Wednesday morning, the temperature outside was even colder at 13 degrees and it was snowing. After practicing the piano, I went outside and harvested more firewood.

After lunch and a nap, I walked to the grave and talked with Byron and Barb who stopped on their way to somewhere.

On Thursday morning, the temperature outside had warmed up to 23 degrees and there was about 2 inches of new snow on the ground. I needed to go home today because of a doctor's appointment on Friday morning in Seattle.

I fertilized Tiger, practiced the piano, and worked on the puzzle for a short while. Then I took a broom outside and swept the snow off the trails and the concrete staircase. The snow was light and fluffy, so it was pretty easy to sweep it away to clear the trails and steps.

When I got down to the truck, I continued sweeping and cleared the snow off the truck.

Then, back in the cabin, I had my lunch and I packed up my gear for the trip home. I left for home at 12:30, a little disappointed because of the short week, but happy to have spent some time at Camp Serendipity.
