11/1-3/19 I went up to Camp Serendipity for 3 days: Friday through Sunday.
On the way I stopped and visited with Earl and Patty. The weather was dead calm, so the lake was beautiful. It was like a mirror with no ripples. I helped Patty fix a bent mailbox and then I proceeded on to Camp Serendipity.
I arrived at 1:30. The temperature was a pleasant 45°. I brought my gear up to the cabin, hoisted the flag, built a fire in the stove, had my lunch and took a nap as usual. When I got up, I took the wheelbarrow down to the truck and hauled a bunch of yard waste over to the compost pile.
On Saturday the weather was 20° and clear. I decided to devote the day to hauling the maple firewood out of the woods and stacking it in front of the cabin. I took it slow, but I worked and walked steadily. By noon it was done. I took a picture of the result.
After lunch and a nap, I put the Styrofoam blocks in the crawlspace vents for the winter. Then I cleaned up the chip mess that was on the front porch and put away the tarp.
On Sunday morning, I fixed the damage done by the wind to Dave's bird feeder. Then, since I am pretty well convinced that I have fixed the leak in the roof, I pulled the big rope down off the roof, coiled it up, and put it away. Then I went inside and did some repair to the fabric on the free chair that we had gotten. It seems to be a pretty cheap chair, but the price was right. I left for home at 11:40 feeling free to devote my time from now on to the railing project.
