11/7-11/22 I went up to Camp Serendipity for five days: Monday through Friday.

There had been some new snow in the pass recently, but it was all clear by the time I came over and the road was bare and wet. I arrived at 11:45 and was happy to see that my driveway and parking area were nicely plowed. I turned the truck around and parked at the foot of the concrete stairs heading out. Then I shoveled the concrete stairs off and it turned out to be pretty easy. A lot of the snow had melted away and it was warm enough so that there was no ice. After stomping the trail to the cabin, I hoisted the flag and then went back down to the truck to bring my gear up in one more trip.

After lunch and a nap, I practiced the piano and listened to the radio for the rest of the afternoon.

On Tuesday the temperature outside was 24 degrees when I got up and it was snowing lightly. It didn't snow much more throughout the day. I practiced the piano, listened to the radio and then attached a 4x6-foot piece of mosquito netting to the wall. I attached it to the wall between the left big window and the floor. I used masking tape to fasten it, but I could see the tape didn't stick very well.

Next, I vacuumed the floor and in particular removed the flies that were there. Then I went to work on the two finished wood panels for the lower cabinet behind the stove. After cutting and trimming, I got them to fit properly.

After lunch and a nap, I listened to the radio while I glued the two panels to the back of the cabinets. Then I cut two lengths of corner trim and glued those to the corners of the cabinet. I took a picture of the result.

Next, I went to the crawl space and switched the ventilation fan to winter mode. When I came back up, I spent the rest of the day reading.

On Wednesday the temperature outside was 20 degrees and the air was clear when I got up. I practiced the piano, listened to the radio and then cut and installed a thin trim strip at the bottom of the two big panels on the cabinet. I used two one by twos braced against the big table legs to hold the trim strip in place until the glue set. I took a picture of the result.

After lunch and a nap, I decided that the flies were not coming in where I had installed the net so I decided to move it. I went to the crawl space to get the long extension ladder and set it up against the windowsill of the highest left-hand window. Then I moved the mosquito net to cover the section of the logs between the windows. By that time, I had discovered that duct tape does stick well to the netting, so I decided to use a combination of duct tape and masking tape. Next, I vacuumed the floor again.

On Thursday morning it was 19 degrees and clear outside when I got up. I practiced the piano and listened to the radio while I did a major dusting job in the loft. By using a long ABS pipe as an extension handle on the duster, I was able to reach every log in the walls in the loft plus I dusted all the furniture up there.

After lunch and a nap, I brought the vacuum cleaner to the loft, and vacuumed the bed, the floor, and the stairs. Then I did some reading just before Robert called to check on me and report on his status. Things seem to be going well for him.

On Friday I practiced the piano, listened to the radio, and did some reading. I left for home at 12:40 happy with the work I had gotten done during the week.
