Construction Journal Entry Week of 5/28/23

5/30-6/2/23 I went up to Camp Serendipity for four days: Tuesday through Friday.

I arrived at 12:30 and it was nice and breezy. That meant the mosquitoes were not out. I had lots of gear with me, so it took four trips to the cabin from the hairpin turn, two of them were heavy wheelbarrow loads.

I hoisted the flag, had my lunch and a nap, and then put some of the gear away.

On Wednesday I practiced the piano and then went out and whacked weeds from the back stoop to the mixer and all the way down both sides of the concrete staircase. That used up the two batteries.

I listened to the radio for a while and then had my lunch and a nap. When I got up, I prepared for the meeting at the Bartholomew's that evening. After a considerable amount of work, I fixed 2 mechanical pencils that were clogged up.

At 5:00 o'clock I went to the meeting, had a good time, and then Dave offered to show me Bill Redmond's grave. It is on the property next to ours. We walked over, did quite a bit of bushwhacking and searching, but he eventually found the grave and now I will be able to walk directly to it.

On Thursday morning Robert called first thing and after we hung up, I practiced the piano. Then I went out with the string trimmer and whacked the weeds from the mixer to Paul , the Sequoia tree.

While I was up there, I checked on Paul and Runty and they both look good and healthy. I also noticed a seedling cedar tree on the trail going to Paul . I'll keep an eye on that to make sure it thrives.

After lunch and a nap, I walked to Bartholomew's and retrieved the spatula that I had left the night before.

On Friday morning, I practiced the piano for quite a while, listened to the radio, and then had a short nap. I left for home at 12:50 feeling pretty good.
