6/20-23/23 I went up to Camp Serendipity for four days: Tuesday through Friday.
I had a doctor's appointment at midday on Tuesday, so I didn't arrive at Camp Serendipity until 5:00 PM. It was a cool 50 degrees outside and 60 degrees inside. I brought my gear up in one trip and then hoisted the flag. I set the thermostats up to 70 degrees and built a small fire which made the cabin comfortable in short order. By the time I had my dinner it was the end of the day.
On Wednesday, I practiced the piano and then whacked the weeds on the lower roadway using up two batteries. I listened to the radio for a while before having my lunch and a nap. Then I went outside and straightened the post and tightened the rope handrail above the rock steps. I had used the post as an anchor when I winched the new water heater up the hill. It had forced the post out of plumb and loosened it up.
I used a come-along and a couple of chains to force the post back to a vertical position. Then I selected two tapered stones and with a big hammer, drove the stones in behind the post to tighten and secure it. Then I replaced the rope handrail, and the problem was fixed.
On Thursday Dave called the first thing in the morning. We had a great conversation and talked about plans for his visit next month. After we hung up, I've practiced the piano, and then went back out and whacked weeds on the lower roadway. I got to the driveway entrance before both batteries were dead.
After lunch and a nap, I loaded a bunch of water into the truck bed.
On Friday morning I practiced the piano and vacuumed the first floor. I left for home at 12:45 happy about getting at least some work done this week.
