7/5-8/23 I went up to Camp Serendipity for four days: Wednesday through Saturday.
Ellen and I hiked the loop in Discovery Park starting in the morning, and when we got home Ellen suggested that there was still time for me to go up to Camp Serendipity, so I did.
I left at 2:30 and arrived at 5:30. I brought my gear up to the cabin in one trip, hoisted the flag, and had my dinner. That was it for the day.
On Thursday Dave called first thing and we had a great conversation and finalized plans for his visit next week. I was glad I had come up the night before or else I would have missed his call.
After breakfast, I practiced the piano and then went out and whacked weeds down in the parking area draining both batteries. After lunch and a nap, I spent the rest of the afternoon organizing things in the loft.
On Friday, after practicing the piano, I went out and whacked weeds up around the cabin and the upper roadway again draining both batteries.
Then I went into the woods to check on the trees. I checked Paul
, Runty
, Dan, Dave, Earl, Ellen, Bill, Cam, Brian, and Andrew. I brought 4 gallons of water to Andrew. I was happy to find that Ellen is recovering nicely from the broken top. There are a few small brown branches right near the injury, but the bulk of the top, which is still held in place by the splint, is lush and thriving. All of the rest of the trees are thriving as well.
After lunch and a nap, I loaded a bunch of water jugs into the truck. Then I set up a cot for one of the guys to use next week. Finally, I did some more cleaning and organizing.
On Saturday morning, I practiced the piano, vacuumed the first floor, and did some more last-minute cleaning. Then I had a small, early lunch and left for home at 11:15. I am really looking forward to next week.
