Construction Journal Entry Week of 9/14/25

9/16-19/25 I went up to Camp Serendipity for 4 days: Tuesday through Friday.

I took my truck to the dealer Tuesday morning but got it back early enough to drive to the mountains. I arrived at 1:10. I brought my gear up in one trip and hoisted the flag. After lunch and a nap, I skipped my walk and played the piano instead. Then I had my shower and the day was over.

On Wednesday morning, I was up at 6:00 and went out to work after breakfast. I wheeled up two sacks of mortar mix from the truck to the back stoop. Then I harvested, washed, staged and laid up a batch of stones using batch #167.

After lunch and a nap, I walked to the grave and had a nice talk with a UPS driver. I also talked with John, who had just taken a UPS delivery.

On Thursday morning, I watered Tiger and then talked to Dave. Afterwards I went out to work. I harvested more stones and laid up batch #168. After lunch and a nap, I walked to the grave.

On Friday morning I spent a lot of time checking on the trees. They are all doing well and looking pretty good. It looks like Bill might overtake Dave as the tallest of the grove. We'll see next April when I measure them again. Andrew is thriving but it is extremely scrawny. I hope it makes it.

I picked off almost all of the brown twigs from Ellen leaving only the green ones. Now it is mostly green, but it is awfully scraggly. I hope it makes it. Paul's drip irrigation is working fine and the tree looks robust and healthy.

After leaving the trees, I harvested some rather big stones, washed them, and laid them up in the wall using batch #169. I finished a little late, and as a consequence I left for home a little late. I left for home at 1:30, happy with the week's work.
