3/13-17/23 I went up to Camp Serendipity for five days: Monday through Friday.
The road was clear driving over. I arrived at 2:20. There was only a skiff of new snow on top of the old snow. I brought my gear up in two trips, hoisted the flag, and had my lunch and a nap. When I woke up, I unpacked my gear.
On Tuesday morning I slept in until 7:00 o'clock. After practicing the piano, I walked to Barb and Byron's house and was invited in for a nice visit. When I got back, I had my lunch and a nap.
Just as I woke up, John called, and we had a long conversation that took up the rest of the afternoon. It was a great visit. After my shower, and most of my dinner, Bill called, and we had a nice long chat. It's nice to know that people are concerned about my upcoming heart ablation.
On Wednesday morning the temperature outside was 25 degrees when I got up. After practicing the piano, Robert called, and we had a nice conversation. Next, I went outside for a 45-minute walk. When I got back, I listened to the radio and then had my lunch. After a few more phone calls from Ellen and the Virginia Mason hospital, I received my instructions for my procedure next week. Then I had my nap and spent the rest of the afternoon reading.
On Thursday morning the temperature outside was 16 degrees when I got up. Pretty cold. Dave called first thing and we had a nice long conversation catching up on things. After practicing the piano, I decided to try to speed up the melting of the snow on the roadway by sprinkling wood ashes on the surface. After doing that, I took some pictures of the result. Then I took my bucket of ashes into the woods intending to sprinkle some on top of the Sequoia trees to try to melt them a little earlier. I sprinkled them on top of Paul but then I couldn't find most of the other trees; they were just buried too deep. I did sprinkle some trees including Larry, which was a surprise, Dan, and Andrew. Brian was already out, and I made a good guess at where Dave and Bill were but the rest of them were too well hidden.
After lunch and a nap I spent the rest of the day reading.
On Friday morning the temperature outside was 18 degrees. I practiced the piano, listened to the radio, did some reading, and then left for home at 12:30. I took Tiger home with me and stopped the pendulum clock since I probably wouldn't be back for more than a week. We'll see what next week brings.
