Construction Journal Entry Week of 4/23/23

4/24-28/23 I went up to Camp Serendipity for five days: Monday through Friday.

I left late because I had a doctor's appointment in the morning. I arrived at 3:00 o'clock and the snow was melted away enough so that I parked up in the hairpin turn. That made a shorter route for bringing in my gear, which I made in two trips to the front door. I hoisted the flag, had a light lunch, skipped my nap, unpacked, and played the piano.

On Tuesday the temperature outside when I got up was 27 degrees. I practiced the piano and listened to the radio for a while.

Then I went outside and brought 5 gallons of water to Andrew. Then I severely pruned Dan. I cut away the longest stem which was skinny and atrophied and I didn't think would make a good stem for the tree. What was left was 2 equally bushy stems, so I chose one and cut the other one away. Hopefully the tree will put all its resources into this remaining stem and start making a tall tree.

After lunch and a nap, I walked to the bridge and chatted with Nancy on the way. She was planting A row of flowers by the road.

On Wednesday the temperature outside was 30 degrees when I got up. I practiced the piano, listened to the radio, and did some reading, then I went outside and walked for 1/2 hour. It started raining so I cut my walk short.

After lunch and a nap, I practiced the piano and then listened to some recorded music. Shortly before 5 I walked to Bartholomew's for our monthly meeting. I think I might have eaten something there with caffeine in it because I didn't sleep well at all that night.

On Thursday morning I deliberately overslept until 7:00 o'clock. The temperature outside was 30 degrees. Dave called and we had a nice long conversation then I had my breakfast, practiced the piano, listened to the radio, and did some reading.

After lunch and a nap, I did some more reading and then went outside with Cindy and pruned the brush in front of the cabin and up to Paul.

On Friday morning the temperature outside was 30 degrees again. I practiced the piano, did some reading, and vacuumed the first floor. I left for home early at 11:45 to give me time to stop at Bartholomew's for some hollyhocks, gas up the truck, then to pick up a prescription, and finally to drop off a Holter monitor at Northgate. They close at 4:00 o'clock but I made it in plenty of time. It was another fun week.
