11/4-8/24 I went up to Camp Serendipity for five days: Monday through Friday.
It rained most of the way over and it was snowing right at the summit. Two cars were in the ditch at the summit, one of them upside down.
I arrived at 11:45 in light rain. I brought my gear up in 2 trips using the wheelbarrow for the second one. I hoisted the flag, had my lunch and a nap, and then walked to the grave. On my way back I met Dean and his dog River going the other way.
On Tuesday morning it was 26 degrees outside. During the night the wind broke my flagpole. The cabin was warm enough, so I did not build a fire. I practiced the piano, listened to the radio quite a bit, and then walked to the grave.
After lunch and a nap, I rebuilt the flagpole, set it back up, and hoisted the flag.
On Wednesday morning the temperature outside was 26 degrees again. I listened to the radio and learned the news of Trump's victory. Then I practiced the piano and then went for my walk. After walking one mile I got into cell service range and got the news. Then I had to return to the cabin.
After having my lunch and a nap, I filled and staged the water jugs. Then I went outside and installed the last of the railings on the scaffold. Then I started work on the abutment for the stepladder to give me access. Finally, after vacuuming, I practiced the piano.
On Thursday morning I watered the plants and then practiced the piano. I walked to the grave and chatted with Barb on the way. After lunch and a nap, I made a sturdy ladder abutment so that my access to the scaffolding would be sturdy and safe.
I went into the woods a little ways and checked on Runty and Paul
. Both of them looked very good. Robert called and updated me on his activities.
On Friday morning I practiced the piano and then loaded the jugs into the truck. Then I walked to the grave and chatted with Larry Ann and learned she will be leaving permanently on November 20th. Then I proceeded on and near the end of the walk, I stopped and chatted with the two county workers who are the normal snow plowing crew for my road. They have been interested in my cabin for several years and it was nice to get to meet them. They promised to look at my website and YouTube channel. When I got back, I took a picture of the scaffold that is now ready for use. Then I had my lunch and left for home at 1:00. Considering the election it was a momentous week.
