Construction Journal Entry Week of 7/25/21

7/26-30/21 I went up to Camp Serendipity for five days: Monday through Friday.

It was 80 degrees when I arrived at 11:15. I brought my gear to the cabin in one trip, raised the flag, and then had my lunch and a nap.

I inventoried the finished edging material for the cabinets that I had never installed. That might be one of my next projects.

The temperature inside the cabin reached 84 degrees by 6:00 o'clock. Way too hot for me.

On Tuesday, in the cool of the morning, I picked about one third of a container of blackberries. That was the end of the harvest for the season.

After practicing the piano, I went outside and inspected the sequoia trees. They all looked OK. Then I brought 5 gallons of water to Andrew. I wheeled 3 loads of firewood down to the cabin from up by Runty.

After lunch and a nap, Marilyn called and asked if I could drive her to her car on my return home. Her car was in the shop and ready to pick up.

I went outside and did some surveying of the cabin foundation and got the data I needed to draw the foundation outline on my map. Then I went up to the loft and drew the cabin foundation on the map. That was a major milestone and made me very happy. I took a picture of the map in this condition.

Then I listened to the radio for a while, had my lunch and a nap, and spent the rest of the afternoon writing.

On Wednesday, Robert called and told me that he might bring Tess over to visit this week. That would be nice. After we hung up, I practiced the piano and then went outside and wheeled the last of the firewood to the cabin from up by Runty. I took a picture of Runty just for the record.

Next, I scouted for more firewood up on the bluff and found quite a bit. I threw it into a pile.

Back in the cabin I worked some more on my map. After lunch and a nap, I spent the rest of the afternoon writing.

On Thursday morning Dave called first thing and we had another great conversation. Then I went outside and hauled and stacked four wheelbarrow loads of firewood from up on the bluff. Then I had my breakfast, practiced the piano, and listened to the radio until lunchtime.

After lunch, I tried to nap but couldn't sleep so I spent the rest of the day writing.

Friday morning, I got a call from Marilyn checking to see when I would be leaving. I left for home shortly after noon, picked Marilyn up and delivered her to her mechanic in Sultan and proceeded on to home. It had been another hot week, but I made it through.
