The rock piles are gone, the foundation trench has been dug, and now the big rocks have to be moved out.
I used planks, rollers, a big steel bar, scaffold frames, come-alongs,...whatever it took to move the big rocks off the site.
I used most of the big rocks to build up the edge of the cliff in order to widen and level the upper roadway.
You can see the bedrock exposed in the footing trench and the hole for the fireplace footing.
In my spare time I was in the woods harvesting fallen logs. I ripped them into planks and stair tread blanks. You can see some of the planks stored in the woodshed on the left, and the tread blanks on the right.
Footing forms nearly ready to pour as seen from the High Rock. (Scroll this picture to the right to see all the forms.)
Ellen doing some troweling during the footing pour.
Ellen and the footings the day after the pour.
