7/26/07 Here all the back deck planks are installed and partly pinned down. The ends are uneven and still need to be sawed off. This will wait until the treads are installed in order to align the top landing with the staircase.
7/26/07 This is the back deck looking uphill. You will eventually be able to walk off the deck there directly onto a path to the woodshed.
7/26/07 This is the deck looking the other way. The staircase down to the crawlspace door will land at this end of the deck.
8/1/07 Here is the form for the first staircase stringer pad.
8/2/07 The concrete mixing station is ready to go. You can see the riser on the ground right in front of me. Standing on it makes dumping a sack of concrete mix into the mixer a little easier.
8/2/07 Here is Paul dumping a sack of concrete mix into the mixer.
8/2/07 Here he is adding water to the mix. By slowly pouring it on the lip of the mixer, it washes away cement that would otherwise accumulate there and be hard to clean off later.
8/2/07 Paul has just dumped a mixed batch of concrete into the wheelbarrow.
8/2/07 Here the concrete has all been placed into the form.
8/9/07 This is the beginning of the second stringer pad form. You can see the bedrock at the bottom of the form.
8/9/07 Here the second form is complete except that the CB66 and the two pieces of rebar you can see still need to be placed in the form.
8/9/07 Looking down on the form you can see the rebar pieces hanging from the CB66. It is ready for concrete.
