6/18/11 Here is the soffit frame hoisted up and held against the joists using clamps and ropes.
6/18/11 And here the soffit frame is attached to the joists almost ready for drywall.
6/18/11 Gary Scollard hanging drywall board to the outside of the front entry room.
6/18/11 Ron and Gary Scollard attaching drywall to the kitchen ceiling.
6/18/11 Gary and Ron working on the soffit.
6/18/11 The hall ceiling and the staircase.
7/22/11 The cliff face behind the cabin prior to cleaning.
7/22/11 The channel below the cliff that needs to have a proper drain built. First it needs to be cleaned out.
7/26/11 The channel and the cliff after it was cleaned out.
8/5/11 A view of the channel I cut in the top of the granite shelf on which I built the Grid 1 foundation wall. You can see the short 4x4 post holding up the Grid E1 corner of the porch deck at the upper left. You can also get an idea of the cramped working conditions down there.
8/6/11 Here's a view of the freshly poured concrete at the back of the cabin between Grid D1 and E1. My foot shown standing on a rock ledge in the cliff at the lower left gives you an idea of what you are looking at. The number of logs in the wall at the right shows how deep and narrow that space is.
8/17/11 This is an experiment to see how well bentonite powder seals up the cracks between rocks. I set these rocks up to make sort of a basin, poured bentonite powder inside along all the seams and cracks, and then poured water in to see what would happen. It seems to work very well. It may take a long time for all the powder to absorb water and turn to clay.
